Love Is In the Air-Quilt Kit

I know I was just talking about how I have nothing really to decorate my house for Valentine's Day---well I am on a roll now! I've got a Valentine's Pillow, Quilt, and Table runner now! :)  Now I can add another quilt to the list! :)

I forgot my friend gave me this fun little quilt kit for Valentine's Day.  I was going through my fabric and looking for something and came across the kit--and figured I should put it together! It is February after all, and I have never put together a quilt from a kit before so I thought I would give it a try!

The fabric is called Love Is In The Air by Deb Strain for Moda.

I literally put this together in less than 2 hours.  The quilt is made out of the panel in the middle and then two borders, plus prairie points.  I had no idea that prairie points were to easy to put together.  I can't tell you how fun it was to make this--it required no thinking at all! lol--I am used to creating my own patterns-- and that requires a lot of thinking, math, and measurements.  I didn't have to do any of that!   It was so nice to sit at my sewing machine and put this together without trying to figure out the correct measurements!

I just need to baste and quilt this baby and it will be done! :) I am now a fan of quilt kits! I will definitely do this again sometime! :)

Talk to you soon,

WIP Wednesday and Dreams

Hi there!  I just wanted to give everyone a quick Thank You for all the lovely comments and support for my Love Squared Quilt! I appreciate all of you and have thoroughly enjoyed reading all your favorite color combinations! You still have time to enter to win the fat quarter bundle! Go here to enter!

I came across this quote the other day and fell in love with it.  I am a dreamer.  I stay up at night and simply dream up ideas.  Lots of ideas.  They are never ending, and usually keep me up at night.   I have had a specific dream for a very long time, and I can now say I am making this dream come true! I am scared, anxious, excited, nervous, thrilled, joyful, and hopeful.  This quote says is quite perfectly.  I have been gathering up all my dreams and finally living the life I love.

Now that I'm off my inspiration soapbox, let's move onto what I have been working on this week. You would think I would be sick of this quilt by now, but the truth is I just fall more in love with this quilt as it comes together.

I finally finished sewing all the blocks together.  I decided to NOT do sashing after all.  I liked the secondary patterns that come out from not doing the sashing.

I have said this time and again, but I just love these fabrics.  The bright pinks, oranges, yellows, and green just pop against the neutral grey.  It is very scrappy, but I kind of love that about it.

I just have to add a border on.  I just received the fabric in the mail yesterday and will attach the border this weekend.  Then I can start with the quilting process!

This quilt has been a long time in the making and I am ready to finish it!

Work In Progress

Hi there!  It's been kind of a theme to post what I'm working on, on Wednesday's.  I have so many works in progress I can't even see straight!! I don't know how I went from learning to quilt just a few months ago, to having several (6) quilts in progress.  Sadly, most of them are under wraps and I can't show you! So instead,  I'm excited to show you another great quilt my mom is working on!

She has been hard at work making tumbler quilts!

This is not my mom's style at all.  She likes muted earthy tones that are more traditional.  I  however, love the bright and vibrant prints that just pop! So when she bought this fabric I was shocked!  I love the colors and the bold patterns and colors of this line.

When I last talked to my mom, she told me that this lovely quilt is quilted and almost done! She is giving it as a Christmas present, so I can't wait to get some photographs of the finished quilt when I see her during Thanksgiving! :)

WIP Wednesday

I was giddy with anticipation waiting for this fabric to arrive! My husband made fun of me because when I got the package in the mail it was like I was opening a package with a million bucks.  Sadly, it wasn't a million bucks, but it was this awesome fabric that I ordered from MSQC.

Before I started to sew, I just put up the charms on my design wall according to color.   I think I just stared at this wall for a good 15 minutes before an idea came to my mind.  I am making this quilt for someone and I want to make sure I make it with their personality and taste in mind.

I am not sure if I will use all the colors in the same quilt, but I am definitely using the grey and yellow.  I know that for sure.  I will be making an original pattern using these fabrics and share the tutorial with you when it's all done! :)
