In From The Cold Quilt {Pattern by Kate Spain}

Hi there! I hope you all had a fun weekend.  We had a busy, fun-filled weekend! Now it's back to regular programming around here, well except for the fact my husband will be going to Engineer's Conference all week.  :(  So this leaves me with the kids all week long.....I hope I don't lose what's left of my sanity! :)

Today I am going to share with you another of my mom's creations!  I am really excited about this quilt she made.  I am even more excited that you can get this pattern for free!

The pattern is called "In From the Cold" by Kate Spain.

My mom bought this as a quilt kit a few months ago and she just completed it a few weeks back.  The piecing was all done by my mom: Nettie and the quilting was done by our friend Kathy.

Modern Trees Quilt Along Part II

Last week she posted how to make the trees.  Saturday I finally had a few hours to get going on this fun quilt!

So here are my trees:

When I was laying out my trees, deciding on the best layout I realized one of my trees has a problem.  The pattern on the fabric goes one way and so my snowmen on that one tree with the arrow is going the wrong direction.   I will have to sew a whole new one because I can't just unpick it and turn the triangle around, I will have to cut a new tree out.  Which isn't a big deal, but it still stinks!

The trees came together quickly, and I found out that the ruler set I bought is pretty nifty! I have a ton of ideas that I want to try out using those rulers.

Can't wait to see how this weeks tutorial on putting the top together!
