Work In Progress

Hi everyone! I am still alive, but barely.  I have also contracted Strep Throat to go along with the lovely flu I have! I don't know how I got so lucky! :)  I have been in bed and pretty much done nothing that involved moving too much most the weekend.  Which means I did not get anything done this weekend!  I planned on getting three quilts done over the weekend, and I've got nothing, nada, zip, none, zilch, ZERO done.

I really try and keep things positive around here, but the truth is I had a rough weekend with the flu and then found out yesterday I also have Strep.  Plus most of my family contracted the flu as well and so it's been pretty darn miserable around here.  The good news is, the family is all pretty much fine now except some lingering coughs.  I however, am the lucky one who got a "secondary infection" as the doctor called it.

I am going to get on my soapbox now-- If you haven't had the flu shot, you should really consider getting one.  I would not wish this kind of sickness on anyone.  It is pure misery!! If you or a family member might think they have contracted the Flu--get looked at as soon as possible.  Don't wait.  My Dr. informed me that another family came in the same day as I did, but they had waited too long to get treated and now are in pretty bad shape and in the hospital! I was very lucky to head to the Dr. within hours of getting sick (I was super sick) and we started treating it as soon as we could.  Which turns out to be the best case scenario!

If you aren't sure if you should get the Flu shot, talk to your doctor and they will help you decide what's best for you! :)  I am actually going to get a flu shot, once I am on the mend so I don't have the chance to get a different strain.  Which is a possibility!

Okay, I'm stepping off my soapbox now! So let's get to my Work in Progress!

I am doing Amy's Sugar Block Club Block of the Month and this is the first block:

This was pretty much the only thing I sewed all weekend long.  And you know what, I enjoyed every minute of it! It is kind of nice to follow someone else's pattern for once and not coming up with my own.  Plus her instructions are very clear, and even though I was pretty heavily drugged on medication--I could still follow the instructions!! haha! ;)   It may have taken me a while, but I got it done and it felt awesome! I love how this block turned out.  It has such a traditional look to it, which I am not used to doing, but I really like it.

I am using this bundle to make all my blocks! It's called Baby Jane and it's by Moda.  I love, love, love this color palette. The golds with the blues and reds are amazing! I bought this bundle weeks ago, and didn't really know what I wanted to do with it, but when I decided to do the BOM, I knew this is what I was going to use!

I can't wait to see what next month's block is going to be!

Talk to you soon,

Aww. You really were hit hard with those two illnesses. I can't imagine. I felt awful with what seemed like a never ending cold. Your block looks great! It's a nice fabric collection. I have a couple charm packs I need to do something with. I hope you're well soon.

Great block Lindsey and I hope you start feeling better soon! We all got our flu shots and I can't believe how many people have been seriously sick. For you to get the Strep......that is awful! Take care of yourself and your family. Thanks for sharing.

Glad you are feeling better! I am sitting here now getting ready to make my block! I was going to use my Baby Jane bundle, but it is only a fat eighth bundle so I am worried if it will be enough. I can always get more I suppose:)

I'm so sorry to hear you've been sick. That's no fun. Jason got the swine flu one year and ever since then he gets his shot!

Your block turned out great :-)

Hope you kick the strep quickly! I'm a big proponent of flu shots - especially in my post-babies world - those darn kids bring way too many germs home! lol

And I love Baby Jane. I made a cute doll quilt with some charm squares a few months back. Fresh but retro feel : )

I'm doing this BOM too! I love your fabrics. I need to get mine done before the end of the month so I don't get behind. Great job on your first block!

Hopefully you are on the mend now. Great block, and I think the fabric you chose will be perfect for a BOM sampler quilt!!

ugh! the flu and strep- that's terrible. It's no wonder you needed your rest. hope you are feeling better! love the block, by the way. Even though it is more traditional, the fabric choices keep it fresh!
