I must be insane.

Happy Friday!

Friday is my happy day!  That means the weekend has just begun and I get to spend some serious time catching up with my sewing machine. :) I am also pretty much the luckiest gal around, because my husband takes over.  He takes care of the kids and housework all weekend long-so I can catch up on projects and start new ones. :)

Last year I started another hobby.  Running.  I actually started a whole other blog when I started my running journey, so that I would hold myself accountable and actually follow through with meeting my fitness goals.

Now before I go on, I would just like to say that I am athletically impaired.  I am not an athletic person whatsoever.  I have never enjoyed working out or any type of sport.  I was always the brainy one in the group and could care less about athletics.

For some reason I had a lightbulb go off in my head and decided I was going to take up running.  I started slow.  I mean a turtle could have probably gone faster than me, but I was running! It felt so gratifying to do something I never thought I was capable of.  I then decided I need to sign up for a race.  So I did, and that was the start of my running journey.
Getting ready for my second race.

Setting a personal record for 5k distance.

Now onto the reason I think I might have lost my mind.  My husband just signed us up for a half marathon.  The thought of running 13 miles straight scares the crap out of me! I know there are a lot of people who run 13 miles on a daily basis, and crank out the marathons like no one's business.  But this is a BIG deal for me.  The longest distance I have gone so far is 6.2 miles and I thought I was going to die.  So this is going to require a lot of hard work and dedication to get through 13 miles. :)

We are running the Byrce Canyon Half Marathon

We live about two hours away from one of the most beautiful national parks in the country.  We took a visit last year with the whole family and I was simply blown away by how amazing and majestic this park is.  It really just blows your mind that something like this could exist and is literally  millions of years old! :)

I can't think of a better race to do my first half marathon! :)

I am excited and anxious about it and I honestly can't wait to cross that finish line!

What's your hobby besides quilting or sewing?
Do you enjoy running?

I hope you have a fun and safe weekend!

Talk to you soon,

You go, girlfriend! Good for you and you can do it. Think positive and prepare! Other than quilting... I have no other hobbies. No time and no motivation!

So I am alot like you no athletic ability at all. I started running at 40 and I have done several halfs and none are as fun and awesome as your first. Follow your training plan and taper at the end and you will rock it! I am jealous of the one you signed up for! We visited Bryce 2 summers ago and LOVED it! Good luck and wish I could do that one with you!

Running is so addicting for me :-) I played (and still play) soccer. After college (about 15years ago) I started running, beginning with a 5k and finding myself running longer and longer distances. Now I run 50milers! You might find you love the longer races, keep at it!

Go you!! I, too, would much more aptly be described as a bookworm than an athlete. I go in phases, but this year I am serious about running more frequently, if not faster : P Just started C25K with the new year and plan to sign up for a 5K in the fall. A half-marathon is such a big big leap, though - good for you! Hope you have fun training and can't wait to see pics - what a gorgeous place to run : )
