Picture A Day {Week in Review}

As I have mentioned, I started a new blog called "Picture a Day."  Well, I thought it would be fun to recap every week and have you guys vote for your favorite photo of the week.

I decided to disable the comments on my picture blog, but I still wanted to get some sort of feedback.  So I thought this was a great alternative.

So to vote, you can look at the collage of pictures here, or you can look at the full size photos on my picture blog HERE

The poll is on my sidebar and just vote for the one you like the best according to which number is on the photo.

Thrift Store Cake Pedestal for Spring

Yesterday I stopped by my local thrift store and found a few great things.
Two of which are pictured below.  A glass plate and a glass sundae dish.
I have seen cake pedestals everywhere lately, and decided that these dishes would work perfect!

BEFORE

 AFTER

I just glued the plate to the glass and added a ribbon bundle and then hot glued a button in the middle.

So simple and fun for spring!

Food For Thought Tuesday: Chicken Stir Fry

Stir Fry is such an easy meal to prepare.  I love making it for my family because it is super easy and really healthy.

I found this recipe over at one of my favorite recipe websites a long time ago and my family loves it!

I have made this recipe a dozen different ways.  I just prepare it with the veggies that I have on hand.

what you need

Take 2 cups hot cooked rice and 1 Tbsp. oil and mix & match your recipe from these options...
meat optionsvegetable choicessauce possibilities
1 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces1 pkg. (16 oz.) frozen stir-fry vegetablesstir-fry sauce
1 lb. boneless beef sirloin steak, cut into thin slices2 cups mixed chopped onions and red and green peppersKRAFT Barbecue Sauce
1 lb. boneless pork loin, cut into 1-inch pieces2 cups cornTACO BELL® HOME ORIGINALS® Thick 'N Chunky Salsa
meatless: 2 cans (15 oz. each) kidney beans, drained and rinsed (omit oil in step 1 and add with the vegetables)2 cups mixed carrot slices, broccoli florets and thin red onion wedgesKRAFT Zesty Italian Dressing

then follow our 3 simple steps:

COOK and stir meat in 1 Tbsp. hot oil in large skillet on medium-high heat.
ADD vegetables and 1/2 cup sauce; stir until well blended. Bring to boil; cover. Reduce heat to low; simmer 5 minutes.

Vintage Lace Bracelet

Hope you all had a great weekend!

I have a new found obsession with lace.

My mom has rolls and rolls of lace and I have been having so much fun with it!

I saw this idea from Little Miss Momma a while back and loved it!

So I made my own version.  Love how it turned out.
I'm not a big bracelet person, but I really like how simple but vintage this looks.
The best part about it, was that there is NO sewing involved.
It only took me about 15 minutes to make!

I am loving my new obsession, and I'm sure you'll be seeing more lace projects in the future! :)

Vintage Inspired Eggs

You guys gave me so much inspiration from your links on Friday.

One link in particular, really gave me some inspiration.   I mean, I looked at these eggs she made, and I knew I had to make some.

So...my mom, sister, and I spent most of the day Sunday making these Vintage Inspired Eggs.

We started out with these plastic eggs.  We actually used two different sizes. A small egg and a larger sized egg.

We then used sheet music and mod podge to cover the eggs.

**In order for this to work you have to use A TON of mod podge.

Cover your whole egg.  They don't have to look perfect.  You can see that mine are NOT perfect, by any means.  They look more tattered if they aren't perfect, which I love.

Then with some lace, beads, and some old costume jewelry we embellished our eggs.

I really love how vintage they look.  These eggs could be displayed any time of the year, not just for Easter.  The fun thing about these eggs are that you can basically do just about anything with them to make them you own style.

Food For Thought Tuesday: Pistachio Pudding Bars

I made this yummy dessert for St. Patrick's Day!

This recipe acutally comes from my mom.  My mom made this dessert all the time when I was growing up and this is actually the first time I have ever made it.

It is super easy, and really tasty! Plus, it was the perfect dessert for St. Patrick's Day!

Recipe

Pistachio Pudding Bars

Crust:
1 cup butter (room temp)
2 cups flour
1/2 cup powdered sugar
3/4 cup chopped nuts (i used walnuts, but you could use pistachios)
1 tsp vanilla.

In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar and then add flour and remanning ingredients. Dough will be crumbly.  Press into a 9 X 13 baking dish and bake at 350* for 15 minutes or until it starts to get golden brown around the edges.

Let Cool

Cream Cheese filling:
8 oz softened cream cheese
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups cool whip

In mixing bowl, mix cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. Add in vanilla.  Then carefully fold in cool whip until incorporated.  Spread layer over cooled crust.

Pistachio Pudding

2 small boxes of instant pistachio pudding
2 cups cream
2 cups milk

In mixing bowl combine all ingredients and whip until thick.  You may have to put in fridge for a couple of minutes to thicken.  When it has thickened, spread over cream cheese filling.

Let sit in refrigerator to set up for a few hours.

I like to serve mine with homemade whipped cream.  Or you can top it with cool whip.
Garnish with chopped nuts!

Wooden Crate Transformation

Hope you all had a great weekend!  I had a fun weekend, but it was way too short.  I really could have used one more day to relax!

 I spent my weekend crafting.

I made some really great projects...

and a couple of not so successful ones.  I won't discuss those ones.  :)

Over the weekend, I went to our local goodwill store and found a small wooden crate.

Here is the before.

Here is the after.

I LOVE it!

I painted it green, and then used some wood stain to distress it.

I also made these eggs over the weekend as well.  I got my inspiration from HERE.

LOVE how they turned out.

I will be posting the tutorial for the eggs later this week!

Friday Favorites-Linky Party

Happy Friday everyone.

I have been a little lazy about crafting lately.

Actually, I wouldn't call it lazy, I am in a RUT.  So hopefully your links will give me some motivation to get crafty.

I am also going to this craft boutique on Saturday, which I am excited about.

Anyways, let's look at some highlights from last week!

{Crafts By Mommy}
I love these homemade bath toys! So fun.

Food For Thought Tuesday: Shredded Pork Tacos

Shredded pork tacos are a staple in our house.  We eat them at least once a month.  The reason I love making them is because they are so easy to make!

Shredded Pork

1-2 lb boneless pork roast
3 cups salsa or until it just about covers your roast.
1/2 cup chicken stock
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 can diced green chilies

In crockpot add all ingredients.  Cook on low for 8-10 hours or until roast starts to shred easily.

*Check on meat about half way through to see if you need to add more liquids.  I sometimes add a little more salsa about halfway through.

**Taste the sauce when meat is cooked through and see if it's as sweet as you like it.  If not add a little more brown sugar.

Tacos

Corn tortillas
Shredded pork
Queso Fresco or any cheese you prefer
Chopped tomatoes
Cilantro
Sour cream

Fill taco shell with meat and then top with cheese, sour cream, tomatoes, and cilantro.

I usually serve these tacos with Spanish rice or Cilantro Lime Rice.

Bunny Ear Candy Dishes

A few weeks ago, I got to spend the weekend with all of my sisters and my mom.  It was so much fun.  We had a fun weekend of eating and crafting.  :)

My mom thought of a cute and simple Easter craft to make and this is how mine turned out.

We just made some simple clay pot candy dishes and put some shabby bunny ears on them.

So simple and easy to make!
This would be a great craft to make with the kids.

I am so ready for spring! I can't wait to get out all my Spring decor.

My little safari man and buttons!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

I had a great weekend, but I do have to say that daylight savings is already kicking my butt!
Whoever decided that this would be a great idea, did NOT have kids.  (just saying)

Anyways, I will stop complaining about this darn time change and get onto what I was really going to talk about. :)

Charlie has a build-a-bear that is dressed like a "safari" bear.  Well, Hannah decided to undress the bear the other day and she never put his clothes back on.

I saw the clothes sitting on the floor and thought, wow those might fit Charlie. :)

They did.

Sort of.

They may be a little tight.

I could not control my laughter.  So I took a picture.

The hubby, well he thought I crossed the line.

My rebuttal: "at least they weren't girl clothes."

Charlie was NOT happy about the whole situation.

He would rather be naked.

Now onto the buttons.

I made  3 different buttons.

They are all on my sidebar, so feel free to grab one. :)

I own a piece of blogland.

I finally bought a piece of the internet.

I don't know why, but it is exciting to "own" your blog domain.

I just wanted to let everyone know that it will be switching within the next three days and that it should just redirect to the new name.

 New name is :

http://www.inspiringcreationsblog.com/

If you have a blog list, I am pretty sure that you will need to update it with the correct address.  I will remind everyone when I know it has switched over for sure.

I also wanted to let everyone know that I updated all of my buttons. And will post them all when the domain switches over! :)

Friday Favorites linky party is still up, (just scroll down a post) so link up your latest projects! :)

Friday Favorites-Linky Party

TGIF! I am so happy it's Friday.

I am even happier that the weather has been so fantastic! We actually opened a few windows today! I am probably way too happy about how great the weather is and now it's going to snow all weekend.

Let's hope this "springy" weather sticks.  :)

Oh and I turned word verification back on.  I got like 12 spam comments in 2 days.   So that made my decision.

Now onto some highlights from last week:

I am loving how simple this "Lucky" banner is.  You can check it out here.

Us and them shared this great tutorial for making slipcovers for pillows.

These towel cakes are so great! What a great wedding present! You can find them here.

Photography...and thoughts on word verification.

As I have mentioned before I am in a photography class right now and we had to take portrait pictures for our assignment.  We do everything in black and white film, but I decided to whip out my digital camera and snap a few shots of Hannah.

I LOVE how this picture turned out.  She was running in the picture and I was panning my camera at the same time so it looks like she's running but the image is still clear.

I am loving my photography class.  Now that I know what I'm doing, I look back at all the pictures I have taken of my crafts and have realized that I did NOT know how to take a picture!

My photography skills are way better now, and it helps that I have a point and shoot camera.

*If you are guilty of using the "automatic" feature in your camera then you need to learn how to use that camera! I'm telling you it will make all the difference in your photos if you just learn the basics! :)

Now onto a completely different subject.
I will be the first to say that I HATE typing in word verification. I have had word verification on my blog since I started it.  I have tried to take it off a few times, but I always get spam comments and it drives me crazy.

Well I decided to try it agin, and I have already gotten 4 spam comments in a span of 24 hours. I feel like a person is more likely to comment more on my blog if they don't have to type in word verification, but I am so annoyed with all the spam!

So what are your thoughts on the subject?
